BIO / OVERVIEW:
I was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland. I received my B.A in Literature from Bennington College, Vermont. After college, I returned to my birthplace where I became interested in website creation and then, in time became fascinated with search engine optimization. Within a few years, I had started to provide specialized SEO services to private clients and commercial firms. Soon I was expanding to ORM (Online Reputation Management) and Search Engine Marketing.
When I was in my early twenties, I was to live a tragedy which led me towards a second occupation and mission. Following the death of a woman I had wished to wed (who was a social assistant caring for the elderly) I started to rebuild my life and founded - as a sort of memorial - Vivre Avec le 3ème Âge or "Living with the 3rd Age".
This NGO took wings and was able (from 1999 till 2014) to offer different services to seniors. Among our cultural initiatives devoted to the well-being of all senior citizens residing in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, I organized an unprecedented free concert for 700 senior citizens given by the world-renowned "Orchestre de la Suisse Romande" at Geneva's Victoria Hall (the main concert hall for the national symphony orchestra to play a special winter program for the seniors who came in big winter coats and seemed to love this event which was full of the beauty and warmth which music provides).
The following year, we organized another free event. This time, thanks to the extreme generosity of the restaurant, a 3 course dinner in the lovely and exclusive Brasserie Lipp of Geneva for 80 seniors! The event was announced a month before in the local press and we had over 600 phone calls from people wanting to attend.
Also unprecedented, we worked in collaboration with Hewlett-Packard, Hewlett-Packard Europe, Microsoft Switzerland, Logitech, and IBM Switzerland to provide free computers and software to senior centers and nursing homes. I can estimate about 300.000 dollars' worth (about the same value, currently, in Swiss Francs) of material was given to these senior centers and nursing homes without charge.
Helping seniors to become conversant with the use of email, accessing the web, and working computer programs were among my highest priorities. In 2011 we started a website to allow these senior citizens to share their life stories: Discover tales of Geneva life shared in audio, video, and text.
